WordPress is as common as pizza. Like pizza, many people, even children and the elderly, have heard of WordPress.
A person can put anything they want in it and not everyone has to like it. It is found around the world like a mouth watering pizza pie. Some people like their pizza with pepperoni, while some like sausage, and I like mine with bacon, green pepper, sliced tomato, and extra pineapple.
With pizza and WordPress, you have options, not choices. In pizza your options include the type of sauce, crust, toppings — and the best part is the cheese which holds it all together.
Versatility is the Power of Pizza and WordPress
What makes pizza appealing is the versatility. Just like pizza is one of the most versatile food items on the planet, WordPress has been designed to be versatile for any type of website. The site can be a standard blog where the writer puts their thoughts out for the world to see. It can be a business site that is completely informational without one blog post.
The website can be an online store where a person can buy tee shirts and penguin pajama pants. It can even be a pizza restaurant site where the pizza can be ordered from home, with a cell phone, in your favorite penguin pajama pants.
The Saucy Content
A good pizza starts with the sauce. If a pizza does not have a good sauce, no one will ever eat it a second time. If a site does not have good content, why would anyone ever go back? One of the top things one hears when starting a blog is to make sure they have content ready to go before the site is launched.
Another tip heard around the world is that content is king. We spread our content throughout the website like a pizza baker covers the pie with a nice layer of tomato sauce. Each sauce, like content, is made with heart and for the end user to savor.
WordPress’s Crust is UI
Then comes the crust that holds it all together. This is where the user experience comes in. A great held-together website is a must just like a great pizza must have a fantastic crust. The crust has to be strong to hold the sauce, toppings and cheese together.
Every site has its own unique user experience in comparison to there are many different styles of pizza crust. It can be thin and crispy with not much pizzaz. This would be your cookie-cutter themes that do not add that much in the way of design or functionality. They are still strong enough to hold the toppings and cheese, but they are not all that fun. It can be thick and chewy with a lot of hoops to jump through. It can be light and airy with a nice flow to it. It can go Chicago Deep Dish style with an amazing framework and custom child theme goodness baked into it with only teasers on the homepage. It can be a personal pan pizza with a minimalist white space theme and quirky pictures of cats rotating in an awesome slider.
An Unlimited Amount of Plugin and Theme Toppings
The toppings reach the skies. With a multitude of plugins, there is no limit to what a person can do. Some think of some of the toppings as a must just as some plugins are a must for every site. Most sites have some flavor of SEO, social sharing, google analytics, and security plugins to make the website rock. Some get into the speciality toppings and add sliders, lightboxes, and cool forms for some custom flavor.
If a seriously special custom site is needed, then the plugins can be custom made to work on that site. Every site can be a one topping, or supreme, or a specialty pizza built to the customer’s specifications.
The Cheese of WordPress is the Core
Last but not least, there is the cheese. All one really needs to define a pizza is sauce, crust, and cheese. WordPress core is the cheese.
WordPress core files are what makes WordPress work. It is the files that designs the initial layout, the admin panel, and sets the default settings. Without it, all there would be is some content and a design that does not work.
The cheese, like core, is the best part of WordPress. It is the ooey gooey wonderfulness that holds all the great toppings to the sturdy crust.
Pizza and WordPress are About Community
Now that all the mouths of the WordPress community are thinking pizza is for dinner tonight, consider how the pizza tonight is put together, the work that goes into the pizza, and the people working to give the deliciousness to the dinner table. Pizzas can be hard work to make but they are worth it in the end. We all work together to make pizza and WordPress great.
